I know your heart hurt too

Just like mine

For the less fortunate

I wonder if your eyes filled too

When you saw them on the road

I know you felt

You didn’t deserve what you had

When they didn’t have any

You felt like you had too much

And yet not enough to give them your all

You wanted to rule the world

So that you could make it better

So that they won’t decay into their bones

So that they’ll never have to walk,

Feeling so alone,

Wondering if anybody cared

You think of all the words you can say

To take their pain away

And you forget for a minute

That you struggle to get through the day

Did you shake your head too

Just to tell yourself that

This is not right

Life wasn’t fair to you

Yet you feel guilty

For not having their fate

Were you spent too

When you got home

Having given parts of your heart

To the ones you met on the road

You worry that they don’t have anyone

You want to be there for them

But how lonely do you feel

Even when surrounded by people

I wish I didn’t leave you alone

All I want is to hurt myself

I forget for a moment that

I struggled every second I didn’t shut down

I’m glad that you are not matter anymore

So you don’t have to hurt

But I just want to let your memory know

That I know your heart hurt too
